Happy New Year to One and All,
All classes are leaning Story Elements--Introduction, Conflict (external and internal), Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution. All Fictional material has some form of these. We watched "Dr. Suess on the Loose" to find examples of each of these Elements. Your child should be able to share the definitions with you.
All classes are getting more familiar with the Thesaurus. Journal Writing Time will be delegated to this activity for a while. On the TAKS Writing Test next year, students are encouraged to use a Thesaurus so I want all to be comfortable with their use.
LA 4
Students should be finishing reading The Endless Steppe by Esther Hautzig. 12 entries in the Dialectical Journal are due by this Friday.
We are reviewing Vocabulary from Units 4 through 6. Students are completing the handouts together in class (I want to be certain they have all the correct answers) and should be studying these each evening.
LA 1 and LA 4
These classes will received their new vocabulary next week. We are concentrating on Reading Skills as well as good writing practices.
These students will receive their new classroom novels next week, also.
