Next week is the end of the Second Six Weeks. All Students need to read, read, and read some more. I do not carry points over from the previous six weeks as I think all students should be reading all the time. Wednesday is the last day to obtain points for this six weeks.
LA 1 and LA 7 need 10 points each six weeks. These students should have 6 points from books we have read in class. This means every student should get his or her points this time.
LA 4 should have 15 points EVERY six weeks.

Sorry for the delay in updating. Life has been happening.
LA 1 and LA 7
Your child should have a Spelling Textbook at home. Study Spelling words in Unit 8. These are homophones which are words that sound alike but are spelled differently. We have made cards in class with the word, a sentence, and the definition on one side with the homophone on the other. Example: One side: fir, They planted a fir tree. def. an evergreen tree. Other side: fur, My dog has brown fur. def. the hair on an animal. Test will be on Friday.
On Monday, we created a Venn Diagram to show likenesses and differences in the two books we have read this year; Journey to Jo'Burg and Run Away Home. We then practiced our Elaboration technique using the information on the diagram. This was an excellent way to compare data. Venn Diagrams will be big on the TAKS test, too.
LA 4
We finished reading The Cay. Pairs are now creating a Power Point Presentation Summary of the book.
Students should be reviewing Vocabulary Workshop Units 1 to 3. The TEST will be given on Friday.
